I think things happen for a reason - not just by chance. "Second chances" are usually provided for a reason too. They can often be a blessing to the people involved. We can easily make mistakes in lots of ways, and it is nice to know that sometimes we have opportunities to turn things around with a second chance. With destiny - I don't know. I think we really make our own destinies. We can make bad trials become real blessings if we work at it the right way. With the gift of agency, I think we do control our own destinies.
I love the idea of second chances. Anita Stansfield's first series of books she ever wrote was based around that idea: of being given another chance in life. I know in my life I have suffered and complained through my first shot at a trial, not understanding or dealing well with it. But sure enough that trial comes around again and I feel better able to handle it and get through it the way I was probably supposed to the first time. I am glad we have second chances.
Destiny is a tricky thing in our church. We do have agency but also know about the pre-existance. I feel that some things are destined to be, but the road to those things can be straight or curvy depending on our choices. In this book I was happy for Jess and Alexa's second chance to "fall in love" the right way and felt they were destined to be together from the beginning.
I defnitely believe in second chances. That is what life is all about. Rarely to we do the right thing the first time around. Fate?? I don't think that I would call it that, but yes - I believe the concept is real!
I believe in second chances, because I think that there are a lot of things that just have to be learned over time and that is very life changing sometimes, I don't really believe in destiny as much I do Heavenly Father putting things and people into our lives when we're ready.
My whole life is full of second, third, etc chances. Thank goodness for them!! When I'm doing all I can to be righteous, I feel like everything happens for a reason and the way it should happen. The hard thing for me is that I rarely understand what is happening and why until much later.
