1- What do you think about Alexa & Jess's relationship and Alexa & Richard's relationship? How are they different? Who do you think suits Alexa better?
I thought Jess and Alexa were a bit intense in their relationship. I love the relationship, but Richard and Alexa seemed more like really good friends. It was clear that she truly loved both, it was just that once everything was out in the open and Alexa and Jess were really communicating, I really thought they were perfect together.
I thought Jess & Alexa's relationship was mostly strong passion in the beginning. They knew there was something strong there, but they had a hard time opening up and being completely honest with each other. Richard and Alexa were more just good friends. They could talk about almost anything. Their friendship turned into a type of love, but it never really had the depth of passion that Jess & Alexa had. I think Alexa needed the passion she found in Jess, but she also needed a good friend with whom she could openly talk and confide. I think she was more suited to Jess and the emotions she felt with him.
I hated Richard and Alexa together when I read this book. But toward the end you realize the different kinds of love that there are and how you need a lot of different parts of yourself to be fulfilled. IE: passion, love, respect, honesty, ect. I think finally in the end Alexa found all of those things in Jess.
I am a bit of a romantic, I think. I felt like circumstances allowed them to come together because it was meant to be. So, it was hard for me to see Richard step into that too. I really felt like Jess and Alexa were meant to be together.
Well, I also am a hopeless romantic and felt like Jess and Alexa really did love eachother. They did have communication issues but the book really makes you believe in their love story. So the whole Richard thing just made me angry in the beginning because it was clear Alexa and Richard were good friends but did not love each other the way you should when you choose to get married. And don't get me started on Richard just doing it for the nookie because he should have been a better friend to Jess and given his "relationship" with Alexa more time. A big mistake in my opinion. Although, I do think she ended up really romantically loving Richard too but nothing like how she felt for Jess and I don't think she did the right thing. It seemed selfish and like she wasn't being true to herself. I really just made me mad but whatever!
