The Gable Faces East - Question #9

9- Do you think the book ended as it should have? Did you like how it ended? What was your favorite plot twist?

  1. I was sad that Richard died, but I think that was what opened the way for Alexa and Jess to be together. Chad was relentless in his determination to destroy Alexa and Jess and their possibility for happiness. I guess Chad finally got what he deserved when he died, but I kind of wished he would have changed and become the brother he could have been to Jess and Alexa. The most interesting plot twists were to find out that Alexa was really a Davies and that Jess was really a Byrnehouse. A great book - thanks Kara!!!

  2. I liked how it ended. I thought it brought closure to a lot of things. The biggest plot twist in my opinion was when Alexa married Richard. I hated that part but thought it changed the whole feel of the book. And that's what Jess needed to stop being such a stupid man so I thought it was good.

My apologies: I first read this book right out of high school and didn't remember it so full of passion and all the details. But we wanted a variety in this book club right?! Hope it wasn't too uncomfortable for you all.

  3. I kind of wished it would have worked out to resolved before Alexa and Richard got together. But, that is what makes good books so good - they lead you down different roads.
I think I liked the initial struggles between Alexa and Jess and watching that relationship develop. I don't know if that is really a plot twist, but it was fun to read.

  4. I liked how it ended. I felt like I liked that Jess ended up really caring for Chad when he understood the truth and I, of course, liked that he ended up with Alexa. I thought that both the marriage to Richard and the loss of the baby were the biggest twists. But, as much as I wanted Alexa to end up with Jess, I liked that it wasn't easy and unrealistic.

Life is complicated and sends you in every direction and you find out who you are. And, in a way I think everything that happened made Alexa and Jess really appreciate and love each other more. I loved the book Kara!
